Fall engagement session season is in full swing, and we are soaking up every second of photographing portraits in the great outdoors! When we learned that Ben had proposed to Makayla at Interstate State Park in Wisconsin, we were thrilled to be able to capture their engagement photos in the same place! The east side of the St. Croix provides yet another unique perspective overlooking the valley, and the views never cease to amaze us. They are breathtaking in every direction, and make for some absolutely epic backdrops for portraits.
When we arrived for Makayla and Ben’s session, it was absolutely gorgeous out, and the soft evening light was complete perfection. It has been unusually warm for this time of year, not unlike the hot summer-like day in September when Ben brought Makayla to Taylors Falls to propose. The two walked the trails together while Ben scouted out the perfect place to get down on one knee to pop the question. The moment finally arrived, and of course Makayla said yes! The celebration began immediately with cheers from the people on the scenic boat tour on the river below. The two celebrated by going out to eat in Taylors Falls, and later travelled down to Mexico to enjoy a vacation as fiancés.
We had the best time chatting as we explored throughout the session, and it was so much fun getting to know them as well as hearing a few stories about their mischievous ring-eating dog! We have no doubt they will have many more adventures ahead, and we are so excited for them to enjoy this short but sweet season as fiancés! The two will tie the knot at the Lumber Exchange Event Center in Minneapolis next fall, and we couldn’t be happier for them as they plan their dream wedding day!
