One of the best things about photographing family sessions is being able to freeze moments in time for families with young kids.  Documenting this short-but-sweet season of life is truly such an honor!  When Caleb reached out to book another session with us, we literally began counting down the days until we could connect again.  He and Laura are one of the most amazing couples we know, and photographing their family has been so much fun over the years!  From their very first session in downtown St. Paul, to their summer session as a family of four, their boys have blown us away with their heart-melting smiles every single time. 

This year was no exception – they arrived at Como Zoo in perfectly coordinated outfits and ready to spend the evening smiling, laughing, and having a blast together! Capturing sessions in locations that hold special meaning to our families is always such a treat.  Laura shared with us that Como Park is one of their favorite places to visit, and that the boys had just spent time with their grandma there earlier in the day.  We set off to explore together, pausing for portraits in each spot that represents many cherished memories.  The kids did such an incredible job, and it was so much fun to capture their sweet personalities in each image.

We finished out the session along the lake, and as the boys tossed rocks into the water we couldn’t help but think about how incredible Minnesota summers are.   The entire evening, from the dreamy golden-hour light, to the breathtaking setting, to the warm summer air, was simply perfection, and it couldn’t have been a better day to capture this beautiful family.  If we were to use one word to describe this session it would be joy.  Pure joy.
