Stillwater | Summer Engagement

There is one area of the Twin Cities that will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Stillwater is not only beautiful, but it was the city that we began our first post-college career.  Its breathtaking scenery and cozy downtown make for an incredibly romantic backdrop for engagement photos!  Danielle and Nick knew they wanted to showcase their love for Danielle’s hometown in their engagement session.  With their wedding taking place on the beautiful Gull Lake in Nisswa, they wanted to incorporate the waters of the St. Croix River as well.  Danielle and Nick have such a sweet engagement story!  Nick picked out Danielle’s ring from her grandmother’s store, and still managed to keep his proposal a surprise!  Danielle contacted us after we photographed her cousin’s wedding and we were so excited to officially connect at their engagement session!

We kicked off the evening together by strolling through the streets of downtown Stillwater with its endless opportunities for portrait backdrops.  Danielle and Nick looked amazing and Danielle’s hat was the perfect touch to add in a bit of variety!  We walked along the rivers edge and then back again to switch into their gorgeous formal outfit.  We love that Danielle tied in the colors from her wedding day with her stunning green gown that looked incredible as it flowed in the wind! Nick looked amazing in his suit and we explored the streets once again before heading over to Stillwater’s iconic lift bridge.  The evening was like something out of a movie and Danielle and Nick were incredible to work with!

We could not be more excited to be back at the Grand View Lodge for their wedding next summer!  We know that their big day is in great hands with Kate from Bloom Designs and can’t wait to see all of their plans come together perfectly!
