Love stories are our favorite stories.  From first meeting in high school at Minnehaha Academy, to McKinley’s romantic proposal in one of our favorite places: Lovers Key State Park, the moments throughout Katie and McKinley’s journey together are only the beginning of their sweet love story.  God has gifted them with a beautiful relationship, an incredible family, and a love that can overcome anything – even the challenges of planning a wedding amidst a world-wide pandemic.

Getting to know Katie and McKinley through the planning process has been so much fun!  We learned that McKinley also attended our college: the University of Northwestern and that we share a mutual love of Southwest Florida, where Katie works as a golf instructor.  We recently stayed in Bonita Springs, not too far from where Katie and McKinley will call home!  When we learned that McKinley’s new job in Florida would start in June, thus they were hoping to move their July wedding up to May, we were thrilled!  

We knew their day would be special, and being able to celebrate with their families on their intimate wedding day was such an honor!  The day began at Expressions MD where Katie’s friend, Anna Majewski did an amazing job on hair and makeup.  Katie looked stunning in her dress by Allure Bridals from Loretta Bridal in Bonita Springs, FL.  We drove to Lebanon Hills Regional Park to meet McKinley, who was looking dapper in his suit by Calvin Klein.  Their first look within the forest was absolutely breathtaking and we explored together taking portraits before heading to Crossroads Church in Inver Grove Heights for wedding party photos.  The ladies looked gorgeous in their dresses by Birdy Grey and with their florals by Bachman’s!  We finished up with family photos before heading in for the ceremony.  The romantic harp music, laughter, tears, and prayer time made this ceremony one of the most beautiful and romantic moments we’ve ever captured.  The newlyweds were all smiles as they greeted their guests who had gathered in their vehicles for a drive through celebration!

As the sun began to set, the backyard reception began.  Katie’s adorable pup was the star of the show as we took a few photos before dinner and speeches began.  The laughter of the speeches carried the fun all the way through the evening of dancing.  We are incredibly grateful for Katie, McKinley, and their families for allowing us to capture their wedding day!  We know that eventually, Ireland will be the perfect way to celebrate, but for now, enjoy that Florida sunshine as husband and wife!
