When we first met Matt and Amanda, they were a family of five with three little girls.  Since then, they have welcomed a fourth little girl and a baby boy to their family!  Life is undoubtably busy for them, but oh so beautiful, and it has been so much fun to see their kids grow and to photograph their family over the years!

We met for their session at the beautiful Lyndale Park Peace Garden in Minneapolis and hoped that the rain would hold off.  Thankfully it did, and we ended up with a great evening for photos!  The rocks and texture that this location provides are amazing.  It is absolutely gorgeous in any season!  We loved Amanda’s pastel dress and the way the pinks, blues, whites, and soft pops of yellow tied everyone together.  The variety of greens in the backdrop created the perfect complement to their outfits.  Choosing outfits for a photo session is not for the faint of heart!  Especially when coordinating seven people!  Props to Amanda – she did an incredible job!!!  Here are a few tips we love to share with families for choosing outfits:

1. Plan your outfits well in advance and consider your home decor.  Thank about what colors would look best within the room you want to display your photos.
2. Keep in mind the season, the setting, and the time of day when choosing color schemes and outfits.  Neutral colors can be either warm or cool depending on the season.
3. Choose coordinating, not necessarily matching, pieces to showcase individual personality.
4. Go with practical and comfortable clothing, especially for children!
5. Add in texture and interest with accessories!

The girls looked adorable with their ruffles and bows and were the sweetest big sisters to their little brother!  The kids all did an incredible job and it was such a fun evening of connecting with friends!
