We can’t think of anything more romantic than ice skating through an engagement session as a beautiful, fresh blanket of snow softly falls to the ground! Shane joined Jessica and Adam at the Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis for their session and was THRILLED to drive through a snowstorm to be there! Falling snow is so much fun to photograph. It creates a beautiful bokeh snow-globe effect surrounding the couple and creates texture in backdrops of trees. When you live in Minnesota, you EMBRACE the snow! It really is beautiful!
When Jessica asked if they could do their engagement session photos at the place they had their first date we jumped at the chance to incorporate such a sweet memory into their photos! When we learned that Jessica was a figure skater, that Adam loves hockey, and that the couple wanted to use the lake to ice skate we were beyond excited! Shane will take any chance he can get to reminisce on the days he played pond hockey.
We always encourage couples to incorporate props that capture who they are as a couple, interests that they share, or places or things that tell a bit of their story such as how they met, where they fell in love, where he got down on a knee to pop the question, etc. Being engaged is such a sweet time and sharing those moments with others through your photos is such a great way to share what makes you unique as a couple! Jessica and Adam’s first date also included coffee from one of our favorite places: Spyhouse Coffee. They brought a few cups along to keep warm through the session and we loved incorporating them in shots that featured Jessica’s engagement ring.
We can’t wait for Jessica and Adam’s fall wedding!
