Coon Rapids | Spring Engagement

March can be somewhat unpredictable in Minnesota.  We could have another few months of snow left to go, or we could see an early melt and the beginnings of spring!  The way we see it, either way works great when we are photographing engagement sessions!  We love using this natural location in any season, but for this winter-meets-spring session, it worked perfectly!

We adored Laura’s plaid scarf and the way the vibrant red color popped against the white snow.  Also – any time an accessory doubles as a blanket prop is a win in our books!  Jason’s textured plaid flannel layered with his navy jacket looked amazing and worked perfectly with the texture of the trees and leaves.  And who could forget the star of the show – the couples sweet little pup with a classy sweater of his own!

We were absolutely in love with the light on this session!  Believe it or not, the first week of March is not typically a sunny week, but on this gorgeous day we were able to grab a bit of golden hour light in the late afternoon.  The temperature was comfortable as well and for anyone wanting snow in their session mixed with grassy fields, March could be the new engagement session month!

We had a blast with Laura and Jason – they are seriously so much fun and were complete naturals in front of the camera!  The laughter and joy in this session only made us even more excited for their wedding next spring!  Late April should be perfect for their wedding at Our Lady of Victory Chapel in St. Paul and the Neu Neu Event Center in Minneapolis!  We loved hearing a bit about their wedding plans so far and can’t wait to hang out with them again on their big day!
