It had been a while since Anna had gotten a taste of the East Coast – years, in fact, since first setting foot on the streets of New York City.  So when Anna’s brother moved to Boston, Massachusetts we packed our bags and headed east!  When you think of a city with rich history, Boston is one of the first that comes to mind.  Everything about Boston was saturated in a deep rich history.  We loved the way that the modern city had folded its original buildings into place.  Seeing the sites was such an adventure and if you are ever visiting, here are just a few stops we would recommend!

First, prepare yourself for crazy, confusing traffic.  Navigating the streets of Boston was like nothing we had ever experienced.  But when you make your way into the city, and first experience sites like the Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, the Granary Burial Ground, Old South Meeting House, and Old City Hall, you will feel like you stepped back in time.  Take a tour of Quincy Market – we highly recommend trying out their cannolis – delish!  If you are looking for a quiet spot for some lunch, Christopher Columbus Park is a great spot near the Harbor!  Strolling down Long Wharf Pier and seeing the harbor with its boats was just the therapy we needed as we had escaped another cold spring in Minnesota.  We picked up a few souveniers at the market and headed over to Boston Common and the Public Garden.  If you’ve read the childhood book “Make Way for Ducklings” you will recognize the famous swan boats that still provide water tours.  We enjoyed some Indian food for lunch before heading down to Rockport, Massachusetts, home of Bearskin Neck as seen on the movie The Proposal.

We are happy to say that we have officially taken a photograph of Motif No. 1 – thought to be the most painted landmark in the world!  The shops in Rockport were amazing and we definitely recommend the black rasberry ice cream from The Ice Cream Store.  We finished our time in Massachusetts in the beautiful South Hamilton – one of our favorite photo stops on the rocky beaches.  We’d love to go back one day…even if only for a taste of true lobster!
