With its wide variety of both natural and brick backdrops, downtown Stillwater remains one of our favorite places to photograph portraits. We knew it would be the perfect setting for Ethan’s senior session and were thrilled to capture his photos on an absolutely gorgeous fall evening! Not only is Ethan one of the most kind people you will ever meet, he is also extremely talented, and is currently working on college courses as he finishes up his last year of high school. Senior year is a time like no other, and we could not be more grateful to document such an exciting milestone!
We are often asked to describe the senior portrait experience. As the photographer, I begin by finding backdrops that will work with the evening’s light. I will show you where and how to stand, sit, or lean, and what to do with your hands. I’ll take a few shots, and then help you with a new pose. After a few minutes, we’ll move on to another setting until it is time to switch outfits. Most people change in a vehicle or in a nearby bathroom if needed. Wearing multiple layers also allows for a quick outfit change.
For portrait sessions, I capture multiple compositions, from headshots to full body, thus we recommend bringing a variety of outfits including shoes and accessories. These can include both casual and dressy options, and we suggest using a variety of necklines or textures. When you are choosing colors, select those that compliment your skin tone and bring out the color of your eyes. We also love to incorporate props such as instruments or sports equipment and loved that Ethan brought his golf clubs along! Senior year is such a unique milestone to photograph, and we are incredibly honored to document this sweet season of life!
