Stillwater has become one of our all-time favorite locations to use for senior portrait sessions! With endless possibilities for both natural and brick backdrops, and the option of the waterfront along the St. Croix River, it truly has it all for portrait sessions. Senior year is such an amazing milestone to celebrate. For many, it is a time of celebrating achievement as well as anticipating the many changes ahead. It is a complete honor to be asked to document this short but sweet season of life, and capturing sessions for Ty, Heaton, Ben, Tyler, and Lucas in Stillwater this fall was so much fun!
We are often asked what the senior portrait experience is like. As the photographer, I begin by finding the best backdrops that will work with the evening’s light. I then show you where and how to stand, sit, or lean and what to do with your hands. I’ll take a few shots, and then help you switch to a new pose. After a minute or two, we’ll move on to another spot until it is time to change outfits. Most people change in a vehicle or in a nearby bathroom if needed. Wearing multiple layers or adding a jacket allows for a quick “outfit” change that can be done anywhere.
We recommend that you bring a variety of outfits along to your session so that we are able to choose which to use based upon the setting. These can include both casual and dressy options, and we suggest bringing a variety of necklines or textures. Most importantly, we recommend that your clothing is comfortable and a fit for your personality and style. Senior year is a season like no other, and we could not be more grateful to document such an exciting time for our seniors!
