Minnesota’s summer season is off to a gorgeous start as we soak up all of the sunshine that these warmer days have to offer.  With the beautiful weather and the sun setting later in the day, we have been loving these late evening family sessions, and we couldn’t wait to connect with Ashley for her family portrait session in Stillwater.  We’ve known Ashley for years now, and have even had the privilege of having her join us at a few of our weddings as a second photographer. Photographing sessions for photographers is always such an honor, and we are so grateful for the true compliment of being chosen to capture their family portraits! 

Documenting these sweet seasons of life is a gift we certainly don’t take for granted. We captured Ashley’s family portraits five years ago when her son was just a little guy, and it was so fun to see how much he has grown over the years!  We were so excited for him to become a big brother, and his little sister is every bit as adorable!  We knew their session was going to be stunning when Ashley sent a photo of their outfit options.  She couldn’t have chosen a better combo, and their colors worked perfectly with the setting!

Downtown Stillwater is one of our favorite places to photograph portrait sessions.  Not only does it boast a wide variety in brick backdrops, but its location on the St. Croix River provides us with a natural backdrop with water as well.  We had the best time together exploring near the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge, and when we discovered a small patch of dandelions nearby, we captured the sweetest portraits of the kids!  They were total naturals when it came to posing making this session a joy to capture!
