Our hearts just break over the devastation in Florida this weekend. We are unbelievably grateful that our home, though damaged, is still standing, and that our friends and neighbors are safe, while we know so many in our area have lost everything. Over the past 8 years, we have been incredibly honored to photograph couples and families in Southwest Florida. Some of our favorite places to photograph are those that are the hardest hit. Sanibel Island, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral, and Naples, as well as dozens of other beaches and communities will now forever be changed, and we look back on memories of these places now with aching hearts.
We know that this tragedy has made a tremendous impact on our nation. Not only on those who call Florida home, but also on those who have family members or friends living there and have made it a tradition to spend time in the sunshine state together. Whether it be the disappointment over losing a place to vacation, or the devastation of losing a family member, friend, home, business, or livelihood, we know that the hurt is heavy, and acknowledge the pain. We are incredibly grateful for our friends and community who are currently serving as first responders and working hard to save lives and homes from further destruction. Words cannot describe how thankful we are for the helpers.
As this situation continues to unfold, we are amazed at the response of those in our community and in our nation. People from all over the country are stepping up to donate, to volunteer, and to serve. Florida will rebuild and recover over time, and we will join those who are serving when we return to our home. We look forward to continuing to photograph couples and families in Florida, as well as serving alongside those in our industry. Our hearts and prayers are with you Southwest Florida, and we will see you soon!
