Summer is in full swing, and we are soaking up every ounce of sunshine that these later evenings bring. One of the perks of this time of year is the later sunset times which allow us to schedule well after work hours. The evening of Tate’s senior portrait session was absolutely gorgeous, and we could not get enough of its soft golden-hour light. Mid to late summer gives us a beautiful rich color in every backdrop, making this one of our favorite seasons to photograph in. While we typically book senior portrait sessions in late-summer or early-fall, sessions in Minneapolis easily work in any season.
We were beyond excited to connect with Tate again, and are incredibly grateful to have been photographing his family for over a decade now in both Minnesota and more recently down in Florida. We had a blast capturing his personality throughout the session, and this location paired perfectly with his outfits! For portrait session clothing, it’s best to avoid flashy or busy patterns that distract from the subject. When choosing colors, go with those that compliment your skin tone and accentuate the color of your eyes. The goal is to wear a classic, timeless look that fits who you are. We recommend bringing multiple options for outfits including shoes and accessories. Jackets or layers work to add variety as well. Tate’s simple, classy outfits could not have been more perfect, and we loved incorporating a nod to his school at the end of his session.
We had the best time exploring St. Anthony Main as we chatted with Tate and his mom! We love hearing about college plans, and get so excited for our seniors and their families as they anticipate the future. It is truly a gift to capture this season of life for them!
