One of our favorite drives here in Southwest Florida is over the Sanibel Island Causeway. The sights along the bridge, connecting Fort Myers and Sanibel Island, often include windsurfers and fishermen scattered throughout the Causeway Island Parks. As we drove to Lighthouse Beach for Brittany’s family portrait session, we noticed an unusual number of windsurfers out for the evening, and discovered that the winds were actually much stronger than we had realized. Upon arriving at the Pier, we saw boats drifting in the waves and decided to begin the session within the trees and finish out on the opposite side of the island to avoid the wind.
Just one of the reasons we love using Lighthouse Beach Park for family portrait sessions is that it allows us to be selective with the setting, depending on the weather, without sacrificing breathtaking ocean views. Brittany’s family session ended up being absolutely gorgeous with perfect soft pink and blue hues of evening light. She and her family had travelled from South Dakota to enjoy a bit of warm weather in the sunshine state, and it was so much fun capturing their session at the beach!
We had the best time exploring the island together, and finished out their session alongside tranquil waters. We even discovered a starfish in the sand, and were so happy to hear that their family had such a great time! Brittany shared that her kids “told me afterwards that they actually had a lot of fun doing [photos] thanks to Shane! I’m very picky when it comes to our family photos, but I was super impressed by his skills and knowledge and how well our pictures turned out! Highly recommend!!!” We are so thankful to have served Brittany’s family, and could not be more grateful for her kind words!
