With homes overlooking over 400 miles of canals, Cape Coral, Florida is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States! We found our dream Airbnb rental among those houses, and loved capturing the beauty of sunrise and sunset over the canals with our drone. We also soaked up every second of time enjoying the pool, shopping, and nearby restaurants.
Southwest Florida is an absolutely incredible destination, and one we are now thrilled to be able to call our “home away from home.” Whether you are traveling for a vacation, or in the area for a wedding, engagement, or portrait session, we have discovered a few new favorites this year, and wanted to share them with you!
Beaches we Visited: The Yacht Club Community Park has a small beach that overlooks the Caloosahatchee River. With it being Cape Coral’s only public beach, it is very busy during peak season but still enjoyable with its playground for the kids.
Parking: The parking is free but very limited during peak hours and weekends.
Walk to Beach: The parking lot is adjacent to the beach and the Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill.
Places to Eat: Try Ariani Ristorate Italiano for the best Italian bread in the world. Visit The Boat House Tiki Bar & Grill for more of a tropical atmosphere and to eat with your toes in the sand. Check out Ford’s Garage for a 1920’s setting with vintage Ford vehicles that offers both indoor and outdoor dining. We loved the burgers, shrimp Mac n’cheese, and our favorite was the funnel cake.
Other Places we Love: The Tarpon Point Marina is a breathtaking waterfront resort community that we discovered years ago when we stayed at the Westin. Be sure to stop in at the Gulf Coast Fudge Company for some delicious treats while you are there!
Whether you are visiting Florida on vacation, here for your destination wedding, engagement, or portrait session, or simply planning a day at the beach with family and friends, we hope these ideas are helpful as you plan your time in the sunshine state!
