Boom Island Park | Engagement

Meeting up with Serena and Sean was seriously so much fun.  They had suggested incorporating their favorite restaurant, Masu, into their session and we jumped at the chance to capture their “foodie” side in one of their favorite places in Northeast Minneapolis.  Masu serves the most amazing sushi so of course we placed an order and had a blast laughing and getting to know each other.  The staff were so awesome about allowing us to photograph in their space and we thanked them before finishing up and heading out to explore Minneapolis.

We started out by making a few stops along some of our favorite ivy walls.  We are completely in love with the texture that ivy on brick creates and especially love it in the fall!  The rich color provided the perfect pop and Serena and Sean’s outfits were ideal for the backdrops of the city!  We chatted as we walked about Sean’s epic fishing stories and their adorable pug, Frankie.  We love the fun-loving and playful relationship these two share – they are absolutely perfect for each other!

After exploring a bit of the city, we headed to a more natural setting on Boom Island Park.  The bridge that connects to the park is incredible and one of Minneapolis’ iconic places for photos.  We loved the way that the lines worked with Serena’s coat and their neutral grays were perfect.  A bit of fall color has begun to pop throughout the trees and yet we still found a few flowering bushes tying in a hint of lavender to the backdrop in the fields.  Ending the session in the field, we chatted about their wedding photographs being surrounded by the snow.  We can’t wait for their February wedding at the gorgeous Earl & Wilson Event Center in St. Paul.  We are already counting down the days!
