Blaine | Fall Engagement

We absolutely loved every single thing about this engagement session!  Not only were Megan and Nathan the sweetest couple and an absolute dream to work with, but the light on this evening was straight out of a photographer’s dream.  It really doesn’t get any better than golden hour in a grassy field on a crisp, cool, fall evening.  After scoping out the location for the best light, we began the session out in a grassy field among the trees.  As the sun began to drop, we moved out to the open area of the field to use the golden rays before they quickly disappeared.

Megan and Nathan are such a stunning couple and their outfits paired perfectly with the setting.  The neutral fall colors with the accents of gold in Megan’s jewelry and Nathan’s watch were amazing.  Using natural colors such as navy, green, grey, tan, white, etc. creates a beautiful blend with both the background and the subjects.  Adding accessories pulls in a bit more detail, texture, and dimension without distracting or drawing the eye.  We loved the way that Megan’s white dress flowed as they walked through the woods and pine trees.

We ended the session in the tall pines which is always another great way to incorporate texture and dimension.  The sun had gone down leaving us with soft, dreamy, pink evening light.  Fall is such a gorgeous season for engagement sessions and we loved that Megan and Nathan used a different season and setting from their wedding.  Their upcoming winter wedding will take place in downtown St. Paul and will be classy and elegant.  Not only are we excited for a winter wedding, but what better way to finish out 2019 than with a New Year’s Eve wedding to celebrate!  We can’t wait to capture their big day!
