When former brides and grooms of ours reach out to us to book a family session, we can hardly contain our excitement!  Not only do we get to reconnect with our couples, but we are completely honored by the privilege of capturing both their wedding day AND their happily ever after!  Amber and Tyler were married at the beautiful Semple Mansion five years ago and what a day it was!  A few years later, we were honored to photograph their family as they had added two precious kiddos to the mix.  This year, we were beyond excited for them as they planned their big announcement of welcoming baby number three!

We met for their session on a gorgeous, summer evening in downtown Anoka.  Amber and Tyler are such a beautiful couple and they have the sweetest kids ever!  It’s always so much fun to connect with young children throughout a portrait session.  The beginning is always a time of building trust and becoming buddies so that they begin to feel comfortable with a new person behind the camera.  Having a squeaky toy (we use a fox that is actually a puppy’s chew toy) is our secret weapon and for some reason watching the photographer being bonked on the head with a stuffed, squeaky fox simply never gets old.  By the end of the session, the smiles and giggles are endless and we’ve captured the magic of what it is to be young.

We also love capturing “real life” and one of our favorite shots from this session is the one of Amber laughing as she lifts both kids up, completely embracing the chaos of motherhood.  As crazy as life with littles is, it’s those moments when your sweet daughter kisses you on the nose that melt your heart and remind you that it is all totally worth it!
