St. Anthony Main | Spring Family Portrait Session

We love our city!  Minneapolis and St. Paul literally have endless opportunities for taking photos with a vast array of backdrops in every season.  One of our favorite places to photograph is Minneapolis’ St. Anthony Main.  The variety in colors and textured backdrops is like no other location and we love being able to capture the Stone Arch Bridge and skyline within a few minutes walk.

Spring is always a season that we are itching to get back out and enjoy the great outdoors.  We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our busy season than with the Snyder family.  We’ve known this family for years and have done sessions with them in the past and every single time we are amazed to see how much their children have grown!  It reminds us of why we love doing what we do.  We get to freeze time for these families by capturing each unique age and stage combination.

Not only was the weather perfect for this session, but we loved the way this family’s outfits coordinated with the backdrops.  Part of this can be planned ahead of time.  By looking at previous sessions at St. Anthony Main, Jodi knew she wanted to use the teal doorway that is always a favorite of ours.  As the photographer, the exciting and challenging part of photo sessions is determining which backdrops to use with the given light.  The light on this spring evening was soft and diffused which worked perfectly for capturing the classic skyline backdrop shot.  The spring tulips were also out and worked beautifully for a mother/daughter shot.  The underpass of the bridge provided the perfect neutral tones to compliment their outfits as well!  We ended the session strolling through the streets as we chatted and laughed together.  This is truly our favorite way to experience Minneapolis!
