Autumn is such a romantic time for engagement sessions! With the fall foliage and gorgeous warm colors, there really is so much to fall in love with! Open fields are one of our favorite settings for fall photos and are the perfect place to photograph sparkling, sun-lit texture! We can not get over the way the light danced in the field the evening of Brooke and Adam’s engagement session! It literally was the perfect “golden hour” night! We used one of our favorite natural locations and it was the ideal setting for this outdoors-loving couple!

No mater what the location, type of session, or time of day, lighting makes all the difference! It’s really not hard to be impressed by the natural beauty of fall, but when you combine that with just the right angle of the sun, it’s enough to blow you away! We love the technique of backlighting couples so that they seem to pop out of the background in a soft glow! The challenge is to ensure the subjects are also lit evenly and that the light in the foreground and background does not distract from the actual focus of the photo – the PEOPLE!

These two were so wonderful to work with! We loved their outfits with their warm colors and plaid textures! Brooke’s scarf was the perfect way to tie in Adam’s burgundy color and the pattern was absolutely perfect for the setting! We love to share tips with our couples as they choose what to wear and coordinating with boldly colored scarves adds visual interest without being overwhelming. Brooke absolutely nailed this look – isn’t she just gorgeous!?!

We love how romantic Brooke and Adam’s photos turned out – they were incredibly sweet to work with and we can’t wait to head up to Sartell for their wedding next fall!
