Ohhhh golden hour. We just love you so much! This couple, in this light, = pure magic! Trisha and Tim are adorable and we had an instant connection from the minute we began their engagement session! It was so sweet to watch them interact – they were complete naturals and were giddy in-love and can’t wait to get married!
They have a gorgeous wedding planned at A’bulae in Minneapolis in the fall. Not only is A’bulae one of our favorite venues in Minneapolis, but it is one that provides a roof-top skyline view that is incredible! If their wedding day boasts a golden hour like their engagement session did we’ll be in photography heaven!
We’ve been asked what the ideal time of evening for golden hour photos is, and the truth is, it changes from season to season and some months significantly from week to week! In Minnesota, golden hour really isn’t a full-hour as the name might suggest. We begin sessions about 1 to 1 1/2 hours before the sun sets and then grab those dreamy golden-lit just shots minutes before the sun disappears behind the horizon.
The following sunset times can be used as a guideline for planning a golden-hour session:
January Sunset: 4:40 pm – 5:20 pm
February Sunset: 5:20 pm – 6:00 pm
March Sunset: 6:00 pm – 7:40 pm
April Sunset: 7:40 pm – 8:20 pm
May Sunset: 8:20 pm – 8:50 pm
June Sunset: 8:50 pm – 9:00 pm
July Sunset: 9:00 pm – 8:40 pm
August Sunset: 8:40 pm – 7:50 pm
September Sunset: 7:50 pm – 7:00 pm
October Sunset: 7:00 pm – 6:00 pm
November Sunset: 6:00 pm – 4:30 pm
December Sunset: 4:30 pm – 4:40 pm
Can’t wait to book more golden hour engagement sessions! Bring on the dreamy light!
