Taylors Falls | Spring Engagement

Taylors Falls is gorgeous in any season but spring might be our new favorite.  The blooms are out, the texture has begun to show in the trees again, and it is finally warm enough to break out all the cute dresses!  Emma knocked it out of the park with her casual white and green ensemble and her stunning red sundress.  She and Aaron looked like a million bucks when they arrived for their evening engagement session.  We started things off with a few shots among the white and purple blossoms.  These two were complete naturals in front of the camera!  Their love for each other was beautiful and we could have stayed in that spot all night!

One of our favorite techniques to use during sessions with epic backdrops is called freelensing.  You begin by detaching your lens from your camera body and then holding it in front of the lens mount by hand during exposure. This allows the lens to be tilted at different angles or shifted creating a similar effect to a “Tilt-Shift” lens. The result is an incredible soft, dreamy image with both selective focus and slight light leakage creating a surreal image that draws the eye to the subject and increases the blur of the backdrop.  It’s so much fun to throw in a creative shot or two, especially with couples who allow us to be creative with their images!

We continued the evening along the cliffs and captured some amazing images of Aaron and Emma enjoying the beauty of all that Taylors Falls is known for.  We explored along the waters edge and near the incredible Taylors Falls Princess, an authentic paddlewheel riverboat.  We loved the way Emma’s red dress popped against the white boat!  Every single minute of this session was like a dream come true and we can’t wait for Emma & Aaron’s wedding this coming winter!
