Duluth | Winter Engagement

We will never forget the first time we visited Duluth.  It’s somewhat of a drive from Minneapolis to Duluth but when you are craving the waterfront and rocky terrain in Minnesota, Duluth is one of the best ways to get a taste of the seaside without booking a flight somewhere south!  Mariah & Tim had the perfect engagement session setting in mind.  And the perfect season – WINTER!  When we first thought of doing an engagement session in Duluth we knew we needed to go straight to Canal Park.  The iconic lighthouses and rocks made for the perfect backdrop.  What we didn’t know was that the temperatures would be FREEZING but the sunshine would keep us warm enough to make some great images!  These two were complete naturals!  They rocked this session and Mariah’s skirt could not have been more perfect in that sweet golden-hour light.  The lift bridge was another Duluth icon and thankfully the traffic stopped just long enough to get one last shot in the street.

We celebrated their perfect session that evening while we stayed at Park Point Marina Inn.  If you are ever in town, we highly recommend the rooms with a view!  We have a slight obsession with sailboats and the rooms with decks give a great view of the boats in the Harbor Cove Marina.  Had it been a bit warmer we could have made the four-block walk to Canal Park’s restaurants and shops.  But winter in Duluth means ordering room service and catching a late night movie instead!  When summer does roll around we love eating at Grandma’s Saloon & Grill – it has rooftop seating (one of our favs) and has a great view to boot!  Atmosphere is everything for us and Duluth has it all – fun, romance, and beauty all wrapped into one quaint little Minnesota town.
