There is something truly magical about photographing destination portrait sessions at sunrise on Sanibel Island. The quiet stillness of the morning, paired with the soft glow of the sun rising over the horizon, created an absolutely breathtaking setting for portraits, and Kayla and Shaun’s session was nothing short of perfection.  We met just before sunrise and had the most beautiful light to work with as we set off to explore the beach.  These two had travelled down to Florida from Wisconsin, and it was so fun to connect with fellow midwesterners.  They were referred to us by Lauren, and we are so grateful for her kind words and the chance to connect with an extended part of her family!  

From the very beginning, Kayla and Shaun’s joy was contagious. They laughed their way through the entire session, and Shaun was so sweet to Kayla.  Their love for each other was such a gift to capture!  Kayla is expecting a baby boy this May, and it was an honor to document this season of anticipation.  Her seven year old son also did an incredible job for photos, and it was so fun to photograph him as he ran along the beach finding seashells. There is nothing like capturing families as they soak up the natural beauty that makes Sanibel so unique.

As we finished out the session, we incorporated a few drone shots to document the incredible scenery from above. From the soft colors of the sunrise, to the gorgeous teal water, to this sweet family enjoying the beach together, every minute of this session was amazing.  We are so happy for Kayla and Shaun as they step into this next chapter. It was such a joy to spend the morning with them capturing memories of this exciting season of life!
